KAYAKING/CANOEING

Take a trip down Pine Creek! We recommend Pine Creek Outfitters, 3 miles away. They offer raft, kayak and canoe rentals. Choose your length of trip and PCO will take you by van to the starting point. Make sure to check the river level before you go. Don't forget to bring cash to tip your van driver!

From highway bicycling, to mountain biking, trail biking and even BMX, the Pennsylvania Wilds is paradise for those who love to pedal. With beautiful scenery surrounding, biking is one of the most popular activities in the Pennsylvania Wilds region. One of the premier rail-trails in the Northeast, the Pine Creek Rail Trail in Pine Creek Gorge offers travelers a spectacular 62-mile journey through the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. 

Trailblazers welcome in all four seasons! The Pennsylvania Wilds is home to more than 1,600 miles of hiking trails.

With our gently rolling woodlands, the Pennsylvania Wilds has many equestrian trails for horseback riding enthusiasts. The Allegheny National Forest and our State Parks and Forests maintain hundreds of miles of horse trails available for public use. Feel the breeze in your hair and take in the scenery!

CORNING, NY

Corning, NY is a great day trip from the cabin (50 miles away). Visit this finger lakes region for The Corning Museum of Glass (a must, and kids 17 and under are free) and great shopping.

The Pennsylvania Wilds is home to some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities in the Eastern United States.

The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum educates the public about the Commonwealth’s rich lumbering history and the ongoing care, management, and recreational use of its forests. Visitors are encouraged to explore the museum’s working historic saw mill, recreated lumber camp, exhibits, public programs and collections to discover the relevance of history in their lives. The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and is actively supported by the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum Associates which is a non-profit community-based organization. Open year round Wed-Sunday 9am-5pm

The PA Grand Canyon State Park areas display spectacular views. Colton Point on the west rim and Leonard Harrison on the east rim of the canyon are the "Must See" vistas to visit. Camping and picnic areas are also available here. The PA Grand Canyon offers many attractions and activities, along with many restaurants. 

The Pennsylvania Wilds is a game hunter’s paradise and an angler's perfect retreat. The region has nearly 2,100 designated trout streams, 16,000 miles of sparkling waterways, and 2 million acres of public land open for hunting at various times of the year. With dense forestland and a multitude of waterways, the ecosystem is home to a variety of wildlife.

DINING

Two of the best restaurants in the area are in walking distance. The Log Cabin Inn and The Old Antlers Inn are both within walking distance. Call ahead for reservations.

There is a lot to do in Wellsboro, which is the closest town, 13 miles away. Be sure to visit the Wellsboro Diner, Dunham's Dept Store, Peggy's Candies and Gifts, and many other shops on Rt. 6.

Off-road challenges and hundreds of miles of trails for motorized recreation welcome ATV and snowmobile riders to the Pennsylvania Wilds.

Seeing majestic elk is an unforgettable experience! Welcome to the largest wild elk herd in the northeastern United States, found in the Elk Country landscape. As part of a major conservation effort, the Pennsylvania Game Commission released 177 Rocky Mountain elk into Pennsylvania between 1913 and 1926. Today, this wild herd has over 1,000 elk!
